Poetry

with Ms. Graham's Class

One child recommended that we write a poem, using our knowledge, and so they wrote this poem in 10 minutes just before lunch (not our most focused time, usually). It is all their words –as suggested by one student who began with the whole first 2 lines herself!

Bugs

I think bugs are rather nice.

They give us honey from the bumble bees

They please little children-

"A ladybug-come see!"

The spider spins webs

to catch a pesky fly.

And kids break down their webs,

But why?

They eat up stuff that we don’t like

Garbage, dead things, and poop…oh my!

They sing so we can get to sleep

On camping trips…"peep, peep, peep".

They clean water just like that

Hiding from predators under your hat!

Hurt no bugs

Neither wasps nor spiders

Not even if they sit down

"besider".

I think bugs are rather nice.
