Cubist Art Project

with Ms. Graham's Class

Our Cubist Bug Art project began with one student bringing in an ant that he drew using Picasso’s influence. (We had studied Matisse and Picasso, using the storybook "When Pigasso met Mootise" by Nina Laden. We drew a real bug using models from books and printed pictures from the net. Then the children each experimented with cubing their image. It was wildly successful. These images were transferred to rice paper using brightly coloured crayon. Then watercolour was used to fill in the gaps!
